Passing among Soccer Players.
Purpose: Warm Up Routine.
No. Players: 2 Teams of 5-8 Players.
Playing Area: Penalty Box.
Duration: 20 Mins. Maximum.
Objective: Each player must pass the ball accurately to his team mate.
Rules: Both teams have their own ball. Points are lost if a player passes to a member of the other team, or if the ball goes out of play. After each mistake the sequence is restarted from the point where the error occured. 2 referees are needed ( the coach and his assistant) for this game to follow each of the 2 balls and to keep score of the points.
Variation/ Advanced: Once the teams get a grip of this drill – add that after a pass a player must move into space.
Remeber to adjust the size of the pitch to the players capabilities. The smaller the area, the more difficult it is to pass the ball among the team members.
The following Soccer Drill I’ve called “Passing Among Teams”. The name pretty much describes the training routine. Players are spaced out randomly near the penalty box within a confined space measured out by witches hats. Two balls are used, one ball for each team. This drill is ideal for warm ups as it is not physically demanding. It will prepare the leg muscles for training as it will create blood circulation to the major muscle groups in the legs through passing. This routine will also develop a players passing game and will also improve the players vision. A players awareness is also improved as he continually avoids losing control of the ball and possession.
