Does anybody know what it’s like to quit smoking?
How hard it is to overcome addiction?
To break away from abusive, toxic relationships…and to have the courage to leave a twisted working dynamic?
How hard it is to change a habit, any HABIT?
To make the changes permanent…
Becoming a professional soccer player is just as hard as breaking addiction because it has to be done from within…by will power alone.
I can’t fault any child that just wants to play for fun. You have to be crazy to cross that line and try to turn PROFESSIONAL…waving goodbye to the giggles and mud.
But here’s the thing…
The child who is going to commit…is going to commit irrespective of your demands, frustrations, manipulative techniques or rewards.
A SUPERSTAR has no choice and is impelled by a burning desire that you cannot manufacture or give to your child.
The child wearing the latest gear with access to the best facilities and coaches will never make that choice, irrespective of opportunities or your demands.
But this is what most parents miss!
Your child becoming a professional soccer player is FREE and has nothing to do with you.
Your child can never be excluded and can never be rejected…Defeat is a state of mind.
The decision to turn PRO is self initiated…
Self sustained…
…and self defined.
I know what you’re THINKING, how will I know if my child has made that decision?
You’ll know…
You’ll know when you look into their eyes.
You’ll know when they demand to practice.
You’ll know when the Ipad starts to gather dust and the latest game is no longer a must.
You’ll know when training nights are filled with enthusiasm and the sound of grunts.
You’ll know when your child stumbles, gets up and faces the fear anyway.
“May the winds of destiny blow you to the star”
