Steven Gerrard was born on the 30th May 1980, Whiston, Merseyside England. He is the captain of Liverpool, where he plays in an attacking midfield role and wears the number 8. He is an influential and versatile midfielder and many have labelled him a “match winner”. His weapon of destruction is his ability to score goals from long range and his ability to score the winning goal late in matches.

Steven Gerrard started playing his soccer at his local junior club Whiston Juniors. At the age of 9 Liverpool scouts signed him up for the Reds Youth Academy and the rest as you say it, is history. Gerrard signed his first professional contract with Liverpool on the 5th November 1997.

    Thomas, given England’s history in major tournaments, and the current rift going through the players, trippled with USA’s passion to play spoiler, do you think England is heading towards another disappointment in June?
